The DuckTales cartoon theme song serves as the opening audio and each level has its own respective music. The game's soundtrack is still upbeat and entertaining. The levels are still colorful and cartoony, and main characters from the show still appear to give Scrooge hints or act as level bosses. An item shop is also available where Scrooge can buy power-ups that affect the life meter, game money, and number of continues. There are now additional uses for the cane such as hanging off wall hinges and dragging heavy objects around. This time, the pogo stick jump is easier to perform and the movements are more polished. The primary mode of attack is his cane which is used as a pogo stick in order to bounce off the heads of enemies and get to hard-to-reach places. Scrooge McDuck completes the different levels by jumping over platforms, dispatching enemies, and solving puzzles. The game has the same controls as the original with slight changes. Nonetheless, its engaging gameplay still offered hours of enjoyment for the few players who picked it up. DuckTales 2 was a promising game, but it was a commercial failure due to the advent of the Super NES which sunk the marketability of the old 8-bit cartridges. This time, the goal is to locate the hidden treasure of his dear departed dad Fergus McDuck by piecing together seven parts of a torn treasure map. Like its predecessor, DuckTales 2 continues the adventures of millionaire fowl Scrooge McDuck as he travels around the world looking for booty (the kind that glitters).
